Dear MPIRG Supporters,
With all of the uncertainty surrounding the elections this fall, one thing is crystal clear: there’s an attempt to forever change the Minnesota we know and love through amending the state constitution. First, there’s an attempt to define marriage between one man and one woman, forever excluding the right of committed gay and lesbian couples to marry and second, there’s a back door attempt to overhaul Minnesota’s model election system limiting the right to vote for hundreds of thousands of citizens.
Last month, over 80 of MPIRG students from across Minnesota met to discuss the impact these amendments will have on our state. These young leaders overwhelmingly voted to make defeating these amendments the organization’s number priority between now and Election Day through a campaign called Vote NOvember 6, but we’re up against some powerful special interests.
This campaign can only be won by educating and mobilizing tens of thousands of Minnesotans. That’s why you will play a critical role in defeating these amendments. Right now, we’re asking for a special contribution to our Vote NOvember 6 campaign to help us defeat these amendments. With any contribution greater than $10 we will send you this bumper sticker so that you can help get the word out.
